Armeni is known for the characteristic large eucalyptus and plane trees, the streams and springs, the imposing St. Nicolas church and the famous tavernas among locals and visitors. The village has also a butcher, a couple of small shops and traditional cafes. Another thing you should not miss while staying at Aoria Estate is at least one visit to the old town and harbor of Haniá or as it is officially spelled Chaniá (pronounced: hahn-yáh). Chania is set 24km from Aoria, is the capital city of the region and one of the most ancient and continuously inhabited cities in Europe with a history of 5,000 years. Arguably, Chania is one of Greece’s most picturesque and characterful old towns. Its beautiful labyrinth of little streets creates a unique ambient atmosphere and leads to the impressive Venetian harbour with the characteristic lighthouse, Chania’s long – standing landmark.
