Maleme Chania, Crete

Following the old national road of Chania - Kissamos, 16 km west of Chania, we come across the area of Maleme. It is a beautiful seaside village, written in the pages of the history of modern Greece, due to the fall of the German paratroopers in May 1941, which occupied the military airport.

Today, the German cemetery in Maleme receives thousands of visitors annually.

Maleme has a wide sandy beach that provides all the modern amenities for a comfortable stay. There is a significant tourism growth in recent years due to the short distance from the cosmopolitan Platanias which offers a full nightlife.

How to get to Maleme:

• From Chania Airport: it is 30 km from Chania airport and can be reached by following the highway from Chania to Kissamos until the exit to Platanias. Then follow the signs to Maleme.
• From the port of Souda: Maleme is 20 km from the port of Souda. To get to Maleme from the port you must enter the highway Rethymnon - Chania and drive west (towards Kissamos). Exit to Platanias . Then follow the signs to Maleme.
