Kallergi Mountain Refuge is located at an altitude of 1680m on the west of the island of Crete in an area of unique natural beauty. Placed above the plateau of Omalos, in the White Mountains (Lefka Ori) mountain range and close to one of the longest gorges in Europe, namely ‘Samaria’, it is crossing paths with the European E4 trails. The breathtaking wilderness of the White Mountains is ideal for superb walking terrain for numerous day hikes and extended mountaineering. You will find that this close encounter with such wild country, exotic fauna and wild life is a powerful way to put your busy life back in perspective. Strange as it may sound, this little refuge, overlooking Samaria gorge, becomes a busy hotspot almost every weekend in the winter.
